Gina Pettingill Despain passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family on December 8, 2017.
Regina Estelle Pettingill was born on September 22, 1946 in Long Beach California, the first of two daughters to Redge and Marge Pettingill. Her sister Nancy was born two years later.
In 1967, she married Greg Peterson in Highland California. The first of their four children, Wade, was born and Amy followed three years later. In 1975 they moved to Elba Idaho and opened the Connor Creek Store, where Redge was born. Two years later, they returned to California and Rebecca was born.
They were later divorced, and Gina moved with her children to Albion Idaho where she opened the Little Mountain Inn. She was active with Fish and Game and operated a Bird of Prey Sanctuary in Acequia Idaho.
In 1995, she moved to Rupert Idaho and married Kenneth Despain. She retired shortly after and enjoyed her time with the grandkids. She found passion with numerous hobbies including quilting, crocheting, painting, home decorating, gardening, and various crafts.
In 2013, she began her battle with breast cancer. One year later, she lost her mother and husband. Her final years were full of love and laughter surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
She is survived by her father Redge Pettingill of Burley ID, sister Nancy(Fred) Bihlmaier of Provo UT, children Wade(Jen) Peterson of Des Moines WA, Amy(Rob) Purin of Jackson ID, Redge Peterson of Louisville KY, Rebecca(Eric) Boyd of Rupert ID, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Proceeding in death are her mother Marjorie Pettingill, husband Ken Despain, and grandson Garrett Lisonbee.
