Regina P. Lysaght, 80, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at the Albany Medical Center Hospital, Albany, NY, after a short illness.
Regina, the oldest daughter of Matthew and Theresa (Whalen) Prim was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, August 10, 1928. She grew up in a “Sailor’s Family”, where devotion, duty, and hard work were the norm. She attended Catholic Elementary and High Schools. She was smart, spunky, savvy, funny, had a gentle sense of humor, a kind heart, and was strikingly attractive on the inside and out. She also could do a mean jitterbug! At age 19, she became a “War Bride”, marrying the love of her life, moving to a foreign country and starting a 60 year adventure. She and Jim lived in the Forestville section of Bristol for the rest of their lives. Alternately a “Stay-at-home-Mom” and a “Working Mother” she raised her family. Mom was the antithesis of the “Club Woman,” instead she devoted her life to her beloved family. She made it her life’s vocation to protect, and provide love and security to her loved ones.
Regina was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, James E. Lysaght, Sr. She is survived by her children, James E. Jr. and wife Linda, J. William, Michael P. Lysaght and Regina L. and husband Robert Dart, and her grandchildren, Patrick, Andrew, Julia, James W., Laura, John James Lysaght, Nathan and Abigail Dart, and her great-granddaughter Katelyn Lysaght, her siblings, Joseph, Charles, and Matthew Prim and Alice Furlong and sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Maria Prim, and brother-in-law, Dr. Michael Furlong.
