Regina Barbara (Laubenthal) Kaiser passed away peacefully surrounded by her family under the care of Hospice of the Heartland on March 31, 2022. Regina, daughter of Andrew and Helen (Kollasch) Laubenthal, born July 31, 1924, on her parent’s farm near West Bend Iowa. Growing up she attended country schools and graduated from LuVerne High School in 1942. Following high school Regina attended Hamilton Buisness School, taking a Junior Secretarial course, she began her employment at First National Bank in Mason City. While living in Mason City she attended a dance where she met the love of her life Herbert Kaiser, they were united in marriage September 24, 1951 in St. Joe Iowa. To this union they were blessed with 5 children: Helen, Mary Ann, Joe, Sharon and Wayne. Herb and Regina celebrated 63 years of marriage. Regina enjoyed working on the farm with Dad, gardening, canning, baking, sewing -making doll clothes and quilts for all her granddaughters. Regina also enjoyed working on family genealogy and updating the family history books using only paper/carbon paper and a typewriter. Regina was the volunteer bookkeeper for the Algona Senior Center for 15 years. She enjoyed attending the activities the Senior Center offered including cards, holiday parties and socializing while she was able to. Regina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays, drives thru the country and working on puzzles. Left to cherish Regina’s memory are: Helen Larson, Joe(Vickie) Kaiser, Sharon (John)Hyink and Wayne(Bev)Kaiser, 9 grandchildren: Nicholas( Heather) Hyink, Ryan (Melissa)Larson, Anna Larson, Kay Kaiser, Barbara (Brian) Runneberg, Kelly(Keenan) Schipper, Kenneth Kaiser, James(Teresa) Larson, Amy Kaiser, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Sister-in-laws Marguerite Laubenthal, Jeanie Laubenthal and brother in law Glen Gindling. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Mary Ann, grandson Randy Kaiser, her parents Andrew and Helen Laubenthal, siblings Maurice, Imeldia, Merle and Irma. A heartfelt thank you to the Hospice of the Heartland for helping our family during Moms final days. A special thank you to moms Care Givers Colleen Briggs and her daughter Amy and Jessie Ree for helping our family care for our mom.
