Redelia Elizabeth Nottingham was born December 25th, 1942 in Choctaw Bluff, Alabama to the late Edgar M. and Georgia A. Jones.  At the age of 11 she gave her life to Christ and attended Antioch AME Church.  In her youth she was known for her singing and enjoyed sewing -skills taught to her by her seamstress mother.  She attended Harper High School in Jackson, AL and graduated in May of 1960.

Finally settling in Brooklyn, NY in 1962, Redelia  earned her Diploma in 1966 from The Mandl School of Medical Assistants in New York City where she studied to be a Dental Assistant. She went on to have a long career in dentistry until she retired in 1996.

Redelia married James H. Nottingham in 1964. This union was blessed with one daughter, Traci Ann Nottingham.

Redelia resided in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn where she not only worked her chosen career, but enjoyed a favorite pastime of gardening.  She was a founding member of the local community garden, Prospect Heights Community Farm in 1997 and was an active gardener along with Traci and friends in the neighborhood until her health began to fail.

Redelia was one of 6 children, three of which preceded her in death: Aubrey Jackson, Otis Jones and Julia Bell Jones. Her life will be forever cherished as she is survived by her beloved daughter Traci. She also leaves to mourn her brother Matthew Jones (Betty), Huntsville, AL ; sister Mary Johnson, Lakeland, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and dear friends.
