Rebecca Ruth “Becky” Thornburg, 69, of Moberly, died April 7, 2017, at her home, after a short illness.  Becky was born January 5, 1948 in Moberly to Eugene and Lillian Ruth (Jones) Thornburg.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri and worked in the lab at the University of Missouri Medical Center as well as the Ellis Fischel Cancer Hospital.  She had most recently worked at the Audrain County Hospital.

Most of all, Becky loved her God.  She was an active member of the Moberly First Baptist Church, where she was enrolled in the Cradle Roll and had been a Sunday School teacher for a number of years.  She had served on two missionary trips to Belarus, where she tested children who had been affected by the disaster at Chernobyl.  She thoroughly enjoyed her trips and really made a difference in the lives of the children there.

Survivors include her sister, Teresa Thornburg of Moberly; several cousins; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Becky was a lifelong learner, taking lessons in cake decorating, woodworking, and Chinese cooking.
