Rebecca Kay O’Brien, 62, of Madison, Alabama passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016, after a long struggle with multiple ailments. 

Kay was born on July 30, 1954, in Fort Lee, Virginia, to James and Peggy (Thompson) Kimbrough.  She graduated from North Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1972, and attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.  Kay was a graduate of Athens State University in Athens, Alabama. 

Kay was a teacher in Decatur City Schools, and later had a long tenured civil servant career as a Logistics Analyst at Redstone Arsenal.  Kay served in the United States Army and was proud to be a US Veteran.  She was committed to her career and work and especially dedicated to her son and family.

Kay loved to celebrate birthdays and special occasions often sending two cards or notes so you could celebrate the occasion twice as much.

Kay is survived by her beloved son John Kevin O’Brien; parents James and Peggy Kimbrough; siblings Kathy (Roger) Yocom, Leslie Esneault, John (Claire) Kimbrough, and Jim Kimbrough, Jr.; and five nieces and a nephew.
