Ruby Rebecca Parker Shue (Becky), 80 years old, of Raleigh, North Carolina, went to be with our Lord on Easter morning, April 9, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Becky was born March 29, 1943, to George and Ruby Parker of Goldsboro. Becky graduated with a degree in Education from Meredith College in 1965, after which she married the love of her life, Jim Shue. Becky and Jim went on to have two children, Brad and Greg.

Becky’s passion was teaching; it was in her soul. She started as an elementary school teacher, and she also led vacation bible schools, after-school Good News Clubs, and children’s Sunday School classes. Later she became a tutor, role model, and “mom” to NC State athletes. And for the past 25 years, her adult Sunday School class participants have been blessed by her knowledge of the Bible as well as her wisdom and love.

Becky was adored by so many for her sweetness, humor, and love of Jesus. Her example as a follower and disciple of Christ was seen by everyone she met. Always the optimist, always the encourager, always thankful for even the littlest things, and always sharing and praising the love of Jesus. She (and we) knew her earthly death would take her into Heaven. And she rejoiced as she said, “Let’s go home, Lord!” How fitting for her death to be on Easter, the day we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection!

Becky was predeceased by her parents, George and Ruby Parker, and her son, Brad. She is survived by her husband, Jim, and son, Greg; her sister, Jewel Arata; her sister- and brother-in-law, Joyce and Joey Forbes; daughter-in-laws Kim and Marcy; grandchildren, Jaymie, LeeAnn, Maggie, and Ryder; and many loving nieces and nephews.
