Reba Jean Reed, 87, of Temple.

Mrs. Reed passed away on September 3, 2021, at a Harker Heights hospital.

Reba was born July 27, 1934, in Belton, Texas, the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Juanita Hannon Blalock. She graduated from Belton High School in 1950.

Reba worked at the Veterans Administration in the Payroll department for 32 years. She retired from the VA in 1997 and continued in a second career as a medical transcriptionist for Scott & White Hospital.

Throughout her life, music played a huge part. She was gifted in piano and organ, beginning to play in her church at age of 13. Reba had the ability to sit down at a piano and truly make it come alive, it was often mentioned that she played every key with exuberance and could play any hymn by heart. Reba had a strong faith and played in various churches throughout 68 years of her life sharing her talent for the glory of her Lord and Savior, Jesus. Her love of music, specifically Southern Gospel, was important to share with her family and friends. She loved going to a “Southern Gospel Singing” and throughout the years enjoyed many local concerts with her husband and family.

Reba loved her family, especially her husband, William (Bill); they were married on October 24, 2009, in Temple, Texas. Reba and Bill spent much time together attending Southern Gospel Concerts, gardening, spending time with family and driving throughout the back roads of Bell County reminiscing about her youth. They loved the wildflowers, countryside, and wildlife they viewed while spending time together driving through the country. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren loving any reason when her entire family could be together.

Reba is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Debra (Roger) Lee, Tammy Hinkle, and Jeffrey (Lesley) Burns; grandchildren, Tabitha (Walter) Kruse, Tanya (Andrew) Kendall, Marsha Hinkle, Derek Hinkle, and Nathan Burns; sister, Ann Fox; her great-granddaughter, Samantha Kruse and great grandsons Jackson and Oliver Kendall. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a sister.
