Mr. Billeck passed to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Wayne was an amazing man who is deeply loved and greatly missed. He was born on August 16, 1944, in Oenaville, Texas, the youngest child of Edward Paul and Philomena Billeck. He graduated from Academy High School. He married the love of his life and high-school sweetheart, Mary Beth Sandlin, on December 22, 1968.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, 25th infantry. After serving in Vietnam, Wayne returned home and received an honorable discharge from the Army. He then earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas. He enjoyed watching his Texas Longhorns and routinely wore his UT 2005 National Championship hat. After graduation, Wayne briefly worked at McLanes before founding his own chain of convenience stores throughout Bell County. Although he was a successful businessman, his passion was spending time at his farm working the land and enjoying the company of family and friends.
He was so proud of the farm and loved to drive family and friends around to show them all his current projects. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Stanley Billeck, Joe Billeck and Bill Billeck, and his sister Lillie McDaniel.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Mary Billeck; his loving son Jason Billeck and his wife Pamela Billeck of Houston; his loving daughter Beth Perkins and her husband Jon Perkins of Austin; his five grandchildren, Hagen and Claire Billeck and Luke, Eme and Noah Perkins; and his bothers Pete Billeck of Temple, Bobby Billeck of Moody, Lee Billeck of Moffat and Johnny Billeck of Heidenheimer, and sisters Alice Raines of Rusk, Martha Griffin of San Antonio, and Georgia Lambright of Florence, Alabama.
Wayne provided a shining example to those who knew him of how to live life with honor, dignity, selflessness, compassion, love, and grace. He loved his family dearly and his family loves him dearly and is eternally grateful for the blessing and privilege of sharing their lives and love with him.
