Mr. Svitak died at the Countryside Home in Madison on February 3, 2015.

Raymond was born and raised on the family farm north of Howells. He was the son of James and Rose (Pojar) Svitak. He attended rural school after which he farmed with his family. In addition to their crop production, they also raised livestock.

On February 1, 1951, Raymond married Mildred “Millie” Bretschneider. The couple lived on several farms in the Madison, Pilger and Stanton area. He retired from farming in 1976 and moved to Norfolk.

In 1977, Raymond began his career at Fore-Quarters Feedlot. After working for 24 years, Ray retired for the second time in 2001.

Raymond was a 62 year member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Norfolk. He was a Third Degree and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Raymond was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He liked to work in his garden. And he and his wife Mildred loved to dance.

Raymond is survived by his children and their spouse: Daniel and Diane Svitak, of Norfolk, Lonnie and Margaret Svitak, of Randolph and Donnette Thunker, of Norfolk; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers: Vernon Svitak, of Mesa, AZ, and Edward and Mary Svitak; three sisters-in-laws: Helen Svitak, of Norfolk, Maryann Svitak, of Columbus, and Esther Svitak, of Creighton, NE; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, of 60 years, three brothers: Frank Svitak, Lambert Svitak and Randolph Svitak; two sisters: Marcella Jindra and Elgna Bures.
