Mr. Raymond E. “Ray” Kiefer, 94, of Elkhart, passed away of natural causes at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Greenleaf Living Center in Elkhart.
He was born in Elkhart on Oct. 25, 1918, to the late Kenneth and Gertrude (Summerlot) Kiefer.
On Aug. 14, 1937, he married Eleanor J. “Peg” Craig in Elkhart. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his children, James R. “Jim” (Mary Jo) Kiefer and Cynthia “Cindy” (Bill) Hackman, both of Elkhart; his sister, Erma Sechrist of The Villages, Fla.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Kiefer, and a sister, Helen Murray.
Ray was the co-owner of Kiefer Polishing and Plating of Elkhart, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed working outside and doing yard work around the house. He also mowed at Four Lakes Country Club for several years. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
