Raymond R. Schierer, age 74, of Wheaton, IL passed away on September 2, 2022.  He was born March 30, 1948, in Chicago IL the son of Rudolf and Mary (Sarna) Schierer.

Raymond was a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology and Northern Illinois University College of Law. He volunteered at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL supporting the detox unit and patients in substance abuse recovery. Active in Alcoholics Anonymous, he maintained his sobriety by mentoring and supporting others maintain theirs. A proud Chicagoan, he enjoyed playing the role of tour guide in Chicago for family and friends and could take you along the scenic route in just about every corner of Illinois. For years he served as an election judge and encouraged many to register to vote and participate in the democratic process. He was an avid reader and always had a book or New York Times tucked under his arm, enjoyed listening to classical music, attending the Lyric Opera, wandering one of the many Chicagoland museums or taking walks at the Morton Arboretum. He was fascinated by nature and loved the outdoors, going on road trips to explore national parks and landmarks or to go river rafting with friends. Raymond especially loved his grandchildren and was inspired by their intelligence, curiosity and kindness.

He is survived by his children Jennifer Schierer of St. Charles and Mark (Rebecca) of Kildeer, IL; grandchildren Gabriella and Paxon Schierer; sister Rosemary (Jim) Clam of Carbondale, IL; his former spouse Jo Schierer of St. Charles and many relatives and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and Ronald Schierer, and nephew Timothy Clam.
