Raymond R. Guevin, 92, of Wilbraham, MA, passed away onJanuary 1, 2023 at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home.

Raymond was born in Holyoke, MA on August 16, 1930 to Alfred and Florence (Blanchard) Guevin. He graduated from South Hadley High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army medical corps during the Korean War from 1953 to 1954. He worked in banking and finance his entire career, graduating from the American Institute of Banking, Springfield chapter in 1965 and Williams College School of Banking in 1967. He started his banking career at Holyoke National Bank in 1959 and was a branch manager for many years at Western Bank and Trust Company in West Springfield. He was promoted to Assistant Vice President at Hampshire National Bank in South Hadley, finishing his financial career with Shawmut Bank on Cape Cod in 1988. He was active with the Cape Cod chapter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and was a benefactor and spiritual development volunteer at Brightside for Families & Children. Ray loved Cape Cod, the Boston Red Sox, golfing and many happy hours spent with friends at Dunkin Donuts. 

He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Claire (Chartier) Guevin in 1984 after 28 years of marriage. He leaves his current wife of 31 years, Carolyn (Davis) Guevin; a son, James Guevin and his partner, William Conley of Springfield, MA and Naples, FL; twin daughters, Patricia G. Larivee of Longmeadow, MA and Elizabeth Guevin of Englewood, FL; one grandchild, Mckenna Larivee of West Yarmouth, MA; and Carolyn’s children Tricia Newell of New York City, Peter Newell and his wife Michele of Medway MA, and Susan (Newell) Coyne and her husband Michael of Franklin MA. 

Raymond’s family would like to personally thank the excellent staff at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home for their attentive and compassionate care of him during his residence there.
