“You know I’m from the midwest, man – That shapes my personality…” Raymond R. “Dick” Yoakum  was born in Harristown, IL. “Moonshine country” filled with corn fields and corn whiskey. Dick was an ornery joker with a nickname for everyone. He was a prankster who enjoyed “getting a rise” just as much spending time outdoors. Frog giggin’, turtle huntin’, huntin’ & fishin’. Just as every salty tear returns to the sea, on Saturday March 25th, 2017 we turned Dick over to a comforting sense of peace just as easily as the trees let go of the season’s bounty.

Mr. Yoakum contributed to the manpower of our nation, fighting to uphold the ideals of our American freedoms in the U.S. Army.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman that everyone affectionately called “Poppy”. Dick worked as a Custodian at the Burlington County Special Services School in Westampton and was unbeatable at billiards and shuffle board.

He enjoyed crabbin’, clammin’ and the twang of 60’s classic country that he’d sing to everyone. Mr. Yoakum is the husband of Alice (nee Forker) Yoakum and is the father of Cheryl & her husband Timothy Haas, Donna & her husband Craig Rohman, Brian & his wife Lisa Warner, Scott Yoakum, the late Richard Yoakum and the late Brenda Ford. Dick is the proud grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 12.
