Lt. Col. Raymond Neil Sehon, USAF, Ret. passed away on October 26, 2011 at home in Caldwell of natural causes at the age of 85.

Ray was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on March 21, 1926. He was the only child of Raymond Clemens Sehon and Lena Marguerite (Criss) Sehon. Ray enlisted in the Army Air Corps in November 1943 while attending Victory High School, where he was Vice-President of the senior class. He entered active duty the same night he graduated in May 1944. After two years he remained on reserve status and attended West Virginia University earning a degree in Journalism and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the ROTC program at WVU.

As with most military families, Ray and Alice (Jo) moved frequently. The entire family took part in seeing that Kris, who has Down Syndrome, would live a full and rewarding life.

Kris’s sisters Michele Rae Hileman and Lisa Kit Knox also live in Idaho and are raising families of their own. Ray and Jo thoroughly enjoyed helping with their children’s and grandchildren’s growth and development.  Ray and Jo have 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  Also included as part of the family as loving sons are John Knox and F. John Hileman.

Ray’s military career brought him many awards and decorations. His educational pursuits earned him citations from the Squadron Officers School, the Air Command and Staff College, the Air War College, and several other military and professional courses covered by the Strategic Air Command Aerospace Education Program.

In the remaining forty years of his life, he occupied his time helping others, boating, fishing, camping, caring for his family, and briefly working in real estate.  He took care of the home front while Jo pursued a career as a clinical psychologist.
