Raymond Joe “Edgy” Miller,79, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2011. Ray was born in El Paso, Texas on May 3rd, 1932. He moved to Cashion, AZ with his family in 1943, and to Tolleson in 1950. Ray graduated from Arizona State University in 1954 and was drafted into the army upon graduation. After spending 2 years in Germany he returned to ASU and completed his masters degree in education. Ray spent his entire career with the Balsz School District, 25 years as an 8th grade teacher, 8 years as a principal and 3 years as district superintendent, retiring in 1989. Ray was a loving family man who enjoyed a long and happy marriage to Mary Ellen Miller complimented by 5 children, Lorri, Ty, Todd, Brent and Brandon and 12 grandchildren. Ray is survived by his wife Mary, his children, Lorri, Todd, Brent and Brandon and their families and his brother Fred and his family.
