Raymond Lewis was born on March 8, 1953 in Harvey, Illinois to the late Lillie Broder Lewis and William Lewis. He was the second of seven children. Three of his siblings preceded him in death: William Guy Lewis, Jr., Alvin Glenn Lewis and Donald Red Lewis.
Raymond accepted Christ at an early age, under the tutelage of the late Rev. Henry E. Miller. He attended Coolidge Elementary School in Phoenix, Illinois and was a graduate of Thornridge High School in Dolton, Illinois.
Raymond was known by all as a worker and a helper, both on the job and in the neighborhood. He worked for many years at Allis Chalmers in Harvey,Illinois.
On October 17, 2015, Raymond married his childhood sweetheart, Gwen Halbert-Campbell. Their love and commitment to each other could be felt by all who know them.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife, Gwen; four daughters, Jacqueline (Jimmie) Chism, Wyndie (Andre) Williams, RayShonda Lewis, and Jaclyn Campbell; one son, Howard Campbell III; two brothers, Sidney Lewis and Calvin (Darlene) Lewis; one sister, Kathryn Lewis; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friends, Nate Roberts, Ken and Barb Wilson, and Greg Mrozek; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Raymond will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
