Raymond Isiah Griffith, 92, of Clarksburg passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born June 7, 1919 in Bluefield, WV the son of the late Isiah Griffith and Birdie Siegrist Griffithand the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his wife Mable Hickman Griffith. Mr. Griffith is survived by two children; Lola Jean Griffith of Lancaster, OH and Robert Lee Griffith of Bridgeport with whom he made his home; three grandchildren; Amy Jo Elkins, William E. Griffith and Kelly Cox and seven great grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews and one special great niece and caregiver; Rosetta McDaniel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons; Raymond Eugene Griffith and Infant Son Carl Griffith. Mr. Griffith was the grandson of Beverly and Kathryn Rebecca Hatfield and nephew to Katherine McCoy of Pikesville, Kentucky. He was a glass worker for White and Bailey and is an Army veteran having served during WWII. He was a loving father and grandfather and he was a friend to all. He always lent a helping hand to anyone he knew. He will be very deeply missed.
