Raymond “Pete” Harfert, 78, of Sawyer, Michigan died Sunday morning, July 11, 2010 at his home with his loving family.Pete was born August 26, 1931 in Galien, Michigan to Albert and Minnie (Trapp) Harfert. He graduated from New Troy High School in 1949 where he played baseball and basketball.
He served his country in the US Army. On December 6, 1952 Pete married Arlene Krieger at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sawyer. He was employed by Whirlpool Corporation in St. Joseph for 27 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and word search puzzles. Pete’s passion was his family. He adored watching his grandchildren and their many athletic events.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; children Marcia (Chuck) Allen of Cartersville, Georgia; Margo (William) Ackerman of Galien; Sheila Rose of Stevensville, Michigan; Steven (Lesley) Harfert of Sawyer and Michael Harfert of Sawyer; grandchildren, Curtis (Beth); Joshua (Joy); Clayton (Sara); Ryan (Lisa); Amber; Kayla; Luke; Krystal; Matthew; great grandchildren, Grafton, Morgan, Autumn, Trey, Olivia and Lacey; sister, Ida (Bill) Galbreath of Stevensville; and brothers, Duane (Betty) Harfert of Sawyer and Ralph (Gloria) Harfert of Three Oaks.
