Raymond Watkins, 89, of Spirit Lake passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake. Raymond was born on September 13, 1932, to Clifford and Alice (Morris) Watkins in Sioux City, IA. Ray served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Frances Hagedorn. He was later united in marriage to Janice Sangl. Ray was a Long-Haul Truck Driver working for Sather’s and Stoller Fisheries Industries. He later drove truck for Wedeking Construction. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, watching Cowboy Shows, gardening, and collecting model trains. He is survived by his children Ray (Suzanne) Watkins, Jr. of Green Bay, WI; Robin (Dianne) Watkins of Spirit Lake; Perry (Sue) Watkins of Washington; Heidi (Casey) Watkins of Spirit Lake; and Melissa (Tony) Johnson of Chester, SD; Kris (Mark) Hoss; Orv Sangl; and Julie (Gene) Lamaack; 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a brother Melvin Watkins of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jay, stepson Brian Sangl, a granddaughter, brother George and sisters Dorothy and Donna.
