Raymond Eugene Strickland, 85, of Oxford, Arkansas, passed away, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home in Oxford, Arkansas.
He was born in Ott, Arkansas on December 22, 1931, son of the late Grace Opal (Brown) and Emilis Clayton Strickland. Raymond spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was of the Baptist faith. During working years, he worked as a truck final inspector for Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He was a United Auto Worker member for over 50 years.
Raymond is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jennings of Texas; daughter in law, Teresa Strickland of Oxford, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren, Jessica Boverhof and husband Jim of Oxford, Arkansas, Amy Brown and husband David, Kim Hurd and husband David, Roger Strickland, Eddie Ray Strickland all of Greenfield, Missouri, Tina Rhodes of Thayer, Missouri, Chrissi Taylor and husband Micah, Daniel Carpenter and wife Jessica all of Springfield, Missouri and Lori Groves and husband Lucas of Plano, Texas; 8 great grandchildren, Shelby Hurd, Blake Strickland, Jordan Rhodes, Alex Johnson, Kailee Boverhof, Haddie Carpenter, Kenya Strickland and Canaan Taylor; long-time care giver, Daphne Travelstead of Oxford, Arkansas and 6 sisters, Doan Vaughn and husband Howard, Faith Wilson and husband Verigl, Hope Hezzalton all of West Plains, Missouri, Joan Vaughn and husband Harold of Springfield, Missouri, Vergie Ruth McCannon and husband Marion of Kansas City, Missouri and Lea Mae Langston and husband Jerad of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emilis and Grace Strickland; first wife, Ruby Strickland; second wife, Evelyn Strickland; sons, John Strickland and James Strickland and brothers, Darrell Strickland, Clay Strickland and James A. Strickland.
