Raymond D. McKinley, 88, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Passavant Area Hospital.

He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Lincoln, the son of Harless and Grace Downey McKinley. He married Mary Waid Hoyt on Apr. 14, 1973, in Springfield and she died on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014.

He is also survived by two daughters, Radine Cox of Decatur and Mary Ellen McKinley of Lakeland, FL; a stepson, Gary Hoyt of Graham, WA; seven grandchildren, Kenny (Michelle) McGlade, Dane (Ashley) Jenkins, Davrie (Ken) Dono, Drew Jenkins, Donnie “D.J.” Jenkins, Waid (Brittnae) Hoyt, and Allison (Chris) Creighton; seven great grandchildren; and one brother, Charles (Jo) McKinley of Versailles, KY. He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Junior and Dean (surviving wife Geri of Griffith, IN); and a sister, Alberta Lisk.

Mr. McKinley was a graduate of Mt. Pulaski High School and then earned his accounting degree. He was an accountant for the Illinois Dept. of Public Aid for many years, retiring in 1985. He attended First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in a field artillery unit in the European Theatre. He was a Die Hard Cubs Fan, enjoyed woodworking and painting, and was a licensed pilot. He was a devoted husband, and especially loved his family.
