Raymon Arlen Harper, 89, of Florahome, passed from this life on Monday, July 12, 2021, at UF Health Shands in Gainesville, following an extended illness. He was born and raised in Starke and moved to Florahome in 1959. Raymon served honorably for the US Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion. He had worked as a millwright at Georgia Pacific retiring after 36 years of service. During his time with Georgia Pacific, he was actively involved and organized several charitable events helping underprivileged children in the community. In his leisure time, Raymon enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and was an avid John Wayne fan. He was happiest when spending time with his family, sharing his faith in the Lord with others, and was known for being a great storyteller.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William E. Harper and Mary Sapp Harper, sister, Myrtle Mullenix, sons-in-law, Doug Obertman and Tommy Holley, grandson, Mike Strange, and great-grandson, Kole Ellingham.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Chloe Bobbie Harper of Florahome, children, Wanda Mason (Johnny) of Palatka, Juanita Schreiber (Dana Brown) of St. Augustine, Phyllis Oberman of Hawthorne, Lawrence Harper of Interlachen, Arlene Holley (Livio Odom) of Florahome and Arlen Harper (Monika) of San Mateo, daughter-in-law, Teresa Harper, siblings, William Harper (Pam) and George Harper both of Keystone Heights, and Patricia Smith of Hampton, 11 grandchildren, Wendy Mason, John Mason, Tray Maltby (Carla), Deana Smith (David), Keith Oberman (Dot), Heather Ellingham, Lauren Strange, Noah Harper, Brandi Malandrucco (Jeff), Billy Holley and Isaac Harper, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous other extended family members and friends.
