Ray William Collins, 67, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at V.A. Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.
Ray was born May 3, 1954, to Roy and Lucille (Rice) Collins. He married Karen Yvonne (Michael) Collins on March 19, 1987.
Ray worked as a Master Laborer for Union Local #177 for 30 years, retiring in 2005. He was a dedicated father and husband. Ray had a heart of gold and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ray served in the Marines and was a Purple Heart recipient, a sharpshooter, and a patriotic man. He was a woodworker who really enjoyed working with his hands. He also liked to bird watch, bake cookies, and plant flowers all while listening to his music.
Ray is survived by his wife, Karen Collins; children, Marilyn Godwin, Kayceena Ray (Steven) Worrell, Timothy (Carrisa) Godwin, Jerry (Heather) Hupp, Ray W Collins, Jr., Danny Collins, Micheal (Amanda) Collins; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and his siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents.
