On October 5th, 2011, the soul of a kind, gentle man who was our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather left this earth and is now present with his precious Lord.
Oh, how we shall miss him! But, we find comfort and joy in the knowledge that he can now SEE the splendors of heaven and is rejoicing, pain free.
Ray was born Jan. 3, 1921 to Rollo and Emma Plager Rucker at Apple Valley, ID. He attended Apple Valley schools, then graduated from Parma High School in 1941. In November of 1942 he married Ruth Birkes, the cute, dark-eyed girl he had admired through his school years. Together, they farmed in the Treasure Valley until he was called into the Navy. On his return, after experiencing other types of work, he returned to farming. Ray enjoyed growing things and was good at it. But, after years of hard work, they sold their farm and moved to Boise to start a new life. He worked as a school janitor, then delivered milk until being hired by the State of Idaho’s Highway Dept where he traveled and worked until retirement.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, brother, Roy, and sister Mamie.
Our family offers its sincere appreciation to Streamside Assisted Living Manager, Denise Hall, and her wonderful staff for kindness and compassion shown along with excellent care of our loved one through these past two years. Also, we have appreciated care and concern given by Heart and Home Hospice through these past difficult months.
