Ray Allen Batterton of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ray was born October 17, 1942 in Denton, Texas to Carl Oral Batterton and Sadie Corine Stanfield. Ray was 76 years old. Ray was a Christian and enjoyed listening to the teaching of Pastor Arnold Murray from Shepherd’s Chapel in Gravette, AR. He enjoyed discussing his religious view with other believers and was an avid student of the Bible.

Ray and his wife were notorious for “Papa Ray’s BBQ”. Ray worked along side his wife during this adventure. They spent many hours prepping and feeding a lot of people around Waldron and surrounding areas. In his opinion, Ray was the only one that knew BBQ. Ray was a big ol cut up. He loved to laugh and make people happy. He enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Wheeler, dealer and happy go lucky.” He was one of a kind. Always looking to buy, sell or trade something, but not wanting to pay the asking price. He would always laugh when explaining how good of a deal he got.”

Ray leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter, Shannon Plummer and husband Travis of Waldron, Arkansas. Papa Ray will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren: Amber Smith and husband Nick of Oklahoma, Clayton Batterton of Arkansas, Colton Batterton of Texas, Trace Plummer and Sayler Plummer of Waldron, Arkansas, as well as his great grandchildren: Colton Milacek, Easton Milacek and Elijah Smith. Ray is also survived by one sister Joyce Echols of Maynard, Arkansas and Ronnie Curly of Texas.

Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Batterton, his parents, Carl Batterton and Sadie Stanfield, one son, Chris Batterton and two brothers: David Batterton and Richard Batterton.
