Ray Myron Rice, Sr., 70, of Des Moines, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2017.
Ray was born on September 30, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Rogers and Norma Rice. Raised in Grimes, Iowa, Ray never deviated from his strong Iowa roots, remaining in the Des Moines area with his family and friends.
Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very talented, always reloading his own ammunition, and making his own sinkers. He worked as a mechanic most of his life, and in retirement he owned a Karaoke business. Ray loved fishing all day, shooting, and riding his Goldwing motorcycle. His greatest passion was playing his guitar and listening to music.
Ray is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen; his children: Cheryl Cowling, Laurie Leach (Michael), Rebecca Levy, Margret Adams (Homer), Cynthia Wilson (Kevin), Rachel Moses (Tim), and Ray Rice Jr.; 31 + grandchildren; 42 + great-grandchildren; his sister Louise Jordan; several children taken in and loved as his own, and many good neighbors and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Rogers and Norma Rice and his sister, Vera May Marsh.
