Ray served in the United States Marine Corps and Controller of New Mexico Military Institute under the rank of Captain. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Accounting, and was a Certified Public Accountant. He was employed with EMCORE Corporation as Controller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Joan Toon; his brother, Randall Toon; his grandparents Mr. Eber McKinley and Beatrice McKinley; Mr. Ted T. Toon and Mrs. Edna Toon.
He is survived by his wife of 32 Y2 years, Glenda (Price) Toon of the family home; a daughter, Tandra Ruth Toon of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Donna G. Toon of Weaver, AL and Rebecca Toon and a brother, Michael A Toon; parents-in-law, Herman L. and Norma Price of Alamogordo; brother and sister-in-law, David and Laura Haug; niece, Amber Rust and nephew Brandon Haug; aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney (Mildred) Toon of Alamogordo, Aunt Ruth Whittaker of Virginia; step-mother, Mariam Toon of Nebraska; cousins, Ross and Kim Toon of Frisco, TX and Abbie (Toon) White of Albuquerque and many cousins across the U.S.
