RAY EDMOND LONG, 90, longtime Deming resident passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at his home.

He was born November 20, 1921 in Watrous, New Mexico to Henrietta Marshall and Paul E. Long and served his country in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II. He had been a resident of our community for over 60 years and was district manager for the local telephone company for many years until his retirement. The ranching life was very special to Ray, and he was able to fully enjoy it along with his family and writing a column for the local Headlight.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Lucila Long of the home; 3 daughters, Sandy and husband Kevin Baca of Deming, Marsha Long of Albuquerque and Paula Long of Bermuda; 5 sons, Tom , Roy and Loyd Long of Deming, Mannion and wife, Lynn of Albuquerque and Jason Long of Alaska. 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Marshall, Paul, Loyd, Marvin and Roy Long and a sister, Ruth.
