Ray H. Hanenberger, 91, of Centralia, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019. He was born March 8, 1928, in Carlyle, son of Gustave and Emma (Harre) Hanenberger.

He married Ruth Wessel of Hoffman and they later divorced. Holy Baptism at Bethlehem Lutheran in Ferrin and he was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden with John 16:5 as his confirmation verse.

He is survived by two daughters: Sandra Hohman and husband Don of Hoffman and Gloria Hitpas and husband Brian of Posey; a son, Gary Hanenberger and wife Diana of Sahuarita, Arizona; nine grandchildren: Dale Hohman and wife Christie, Kim Ammon, Kris Persing, Holly Mollet and husband Jamie, Heather Harring and special friend Andy Brethorst, Seth Hitpas and wife Jessica, Sara Reeder and husband Kris, Chad Hanenberger and wife Amanda and Jason Hanenberger and fiancé Ally; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter. Mr. Hanenberger was preceded in death by his parents and grandson: Jerry Ammon. Ray was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman where he served as a member of the new church building committee and served as a congregational chairman and treasurer. He later became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Centralia, where he served as a trustee. Mr. Hanenberger was a retired AAL Representative after serving for 34 years. He was active with Jaycee/ Sprehe Ball Fields, the Centralia Police Pension Board, and was a past President of the Village Board of Hoffman for many years. He also served on the Clinton County Board for eight years.
