Rayford Bowden 1943-2016 Ray Bowden, age 72 of Grantville, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was born June 14, 1943, in Coweta County, GA to the late Firley George Bowden and Ruby Mae Hendrix Bowden.
Ray was a compassionate man who left an imprint on all those who knew him. He was a loving husband to his wife of 51 years and a father who was devoted to his son and daughter-in-law. He was known as “Da” to his beloved grandchildren, and he adored his very special great-grandson. Ray worked as Deputy with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office for many years where he served as a jailor, school resource officer, investigator, and with the drug court.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Smith Bowden; son, Allen Ray & wife Alice Bowden; grandchildren, Whitney Rae Kling & husband Max, Ryan Allen Bowden; great-grandchild, Ryker Alex Kling; sister, Kay & L.B. Rooks; brothers-in-law, Paul Smith, Jr., Gary Smith, Sam Whitley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
