Raven Symone Rountree (Gussy) was born in Augusta, Georgia on March 5, 1991. She received her wings and departed this earthly life on February 1, 2022. Raven is the youngest daughter of the union of Melissa Gilmore of Plano, Texas and Ray Rountree of Swainsboro, Georgia. Though her untimely death was both tragic and heartbreaking, she now sits at the right hand of God.
Raven was preceded in death by her niece Irina-Kassandra Gutierrez.
Raven grew up in Swainsboro, Georgia. Like most kids, she spent her childhood playing, laughing, and having fun. She was goofy, with a great sense of humor. Though reserved, Raven was very loving and caring. She was free-spirited and fearless. Raven was honest and never hesitant to speak her mind. She loved fashion, candy (especially chocolate), and her family.
Raven became a mother in 2006 when she gave birth to her first child, Bryan. Following Bryan, Raven had three more children Jada, Summer, and her youngest, Shia. Although parenthood was laboring, she was a wonderful mother. Raven was not only beautiful on the outside she was also beautiful inside. Her love of life naturally drew people to her, and her infectious laughter made them instantly love her. She was a friend to many.
Raven leaves behind a loving family and many cherished memories to her mother, Melissa Gilmore, father, Ray Rountree; children, Bryan, Jada, Summer, and Shia; sisters Starkishia Bolding of Flowood, MS, Rachael Crump of Fort Worth, TX, Raannah Rountree, Ebony Rountree, and Alexis Rountree all of Swainsboro, GA; brother Michael Rountree, along with a host of extended family and friends.
