Life Journey

The sun rose upon the life of Rashad “Rumble” Bakari Hunter on August 21, 1978, in Denver, Colorado. He was born to his parents, Emma Lee Rhodes, and Phillip Hunter, and was the apple of their eyes. Rashad was raised with his brother, Darian Lamar, and they maintained a strong brotherly relationship.

Rashad was a loving son who was always there for his family when needed. He was dependable, considerate, and very kind from an early age. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball and he was elite in all these sports. His fondest memories included a trip when he was eight years old. He attended The World Expo in Canada and Disney Land in California. On the way back from the trip he showed gratitude to his parents for allowing him to experience these amazing places.

Rashad was educated through Denver Public Schools, he attended McGlone Elementary School, Hamilton Middle School, and eventually Montbello High School. During his freshman year of high school, he played basketball and made the varsity team. Unfortunately, he was moved to junior varsity due to missing a practice to attend a concert. As a result of being transferred to junior varsity, they ended up being number one in the state. He was brought back to the varsity team in his sophomore year.

Following high school, Rashad entered the workforce and worked tirelessly to become an Operations Supervisor. He worked for Good Sam Camping World until his passing. Rashad always worked with a spirit of excellence and never settled for good enough.

To know Rashad was to love him, he had an infectious smile and a very welcoming spirit. He cared genuinely about others; he was very loyal and compassionate about life. When he entered a room, he instantly lit it up. Many knew that Rashad valued relationships. He made an effort to reach out to all of his friends and family members’ children; making an effort to make himself available as a mentor and took pride in being the shoulder they could lean on.

In his free time, Rashad enjoyed cooking and planning meals for his family and friends. Rashad also enjoyed watching movies, playing video games, riding motorcycles, smoking cigars, and spending time with those he cherished.

Rashad passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, X’Zavion Hunter; parents, Phillip, and Emma Rhodes-Hunter; brother, Darian L.
