Louis Randolph “Randy” Thaler Sr., 84, of Bandera, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Randy was born to John G. Thaler and Alma Ida Thaler on April 19, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas. He married Mary on January 21, 1956, and served in the military from 1956 to 1958. He played bass and rhythm guitar, and fronted a band through much of his life; one of his first playing jobs was on South Alamo Street in San Antonio. Randy knew about 135 country and western songs. He also worked as a paint contractor and a truck driver for freight lines. Randy and his family moved to Pipe Creek in 1972 where he resided until his departure.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mary E. Christopher Thaler; his sister Theresa Louise Stanley; his daughter, Lue Ann Anderson and husband Arron Anderson; his sons; Louis Randolph “Randy” Thaler, Jr., Carl B. Thaler, and Daniel E. Thaler and wife Kathryn E. Thaler; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, John G. and Alma Ida Thaler; four of his sisters, Henrietta Thaler, Erna Evelyn Thaler, Thelma Peterson, Mary Lou McGarrah; his two brothers, John George Thaler, Jr. and Arthur “Slim” Thaler; and his daughter, Lori Lee Thaler.

The family would like to express gratitude to the Audie Murphy V.A. Hospital in San Antonio, the Fisher House in San Antonio, the Bandera County EMS, and the River Hills Rehab in Kerrville.
