Randy died Friday, February 6, 2015, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Randall (Randy) Lane Clausen was born in Osmond, NE on May 23, 1950 to Gladys (Hoppe) and Ralph Clausen. Randy graduated from Osmond High School in 1968 and attended Wayne State College. Randy married his childhood sweetheart, Peggy Squire on June 19, 1971 in Osmond, NE they had been happily married for almost 44 years. Randy and Peggy lived in Lincoln, NE for a short while before moving to Norfolk where they started Clausen Brothers Construction in 1975. Randy has left his mark in Norfolk by creating a custom home and commercial building business that was well known throughout Northeast Nebraska. Randy and Peggy raised three sons: Shane, Aaron and Chad. Shane married Aimee Hrbek in 2001, they have four children, Jackson, Johnathon, Cassidy and Kennedy; Aaron married Season Molczyk in 2003, they have two children, Kyan and Kutter. Chad married Savana Taylor in 2007, they have three children, Colten, Brayden and Brooklyn. Randy was known for his contagious smile, detailed storytelling and his ability to recall the names of everyone he met. Randy always took the time to know all the people who came into his life and wanted to be sure everything in your life was going well. Although only three sons called him dad, and nine grandchildren called him grandpa, he was a father and grandfather to many and was loved by numerous friends.
During his time in Norfolk, Randy was a former President and member of the Norfolk Area Home Builders Association and member of the Nebraska Home Builders Association. He served on the Norfolk Planning Commission; St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish Council; was former President and member of the Platte Valley Corvette Club; Former President and member of Aquanuts Boat Club at Medelmans Lake. In 1996, Randy was inducted into the Osmond Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Tuesday Night Business Group.
Randy is survived by his wife Peggy Clausen of Norfolk; Son Shane and Aimee of Norfolk, NE; Son Aaron and Season Clausen of Norfolk, NE and Son Chad and Savana Clausen of Norfolk, NE. Brother Terry Clausen of Wausa, NE; sister Sharon and Leonard Nix of Mena, AR; Sister Vick and Earl Bahr of Osmond, NE; Brother Tom and Linda Clausen of Norfolk; Brother Dan and Deb Clausen of Norfolk, NE; Brother Pat and Vick Clausen of Wausa, NE; Brother Scott and Jan Clausen of Norfolk, NE; Brother Casey and Deb Clausen of Wausa, NE; Brother Jeff and Sherry Clausen of Sioux Falls, SD; Brother Mark (Fritz) and Penny Clausen of Norfolk, NE; Brother Tim and Sharon Clausen of Norfolk, NE; Sister-In-Law Mary and Bill Drahota of Ceresco, NE; Sister-In-Law Susie and Rick Korth of Omaha, NE. Nine grandchildren: Jackson, Johnathon, Kyan, Cassidy, Kennedy, Colten, Kutter, Brayden and Brooklyn; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Clausen, his mother Gladys Hoppe Clausen Maxey and step-Father Hugh Maxey, Brother Mike and Sister-in-law Deb Clausen; Father-in-law, Jack Squire, Mother-in-law Irma Squire Cobb and step-Father-in-law Cecil Cobb; Sister-in-law Patty Squire and Brother-in-law Michael Squire.
