Ramona (Monín) Román, 88, of Keyport, New Jersey passed away on May 30, 2022 at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
Ramona was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to her late parents, Modesto and Juana (del Valle) Román. She came to the mainland alone at the age of 17 and started as a domestic worker. Eventually,she helped her siblings relocate to New York and New Jersey as well. Upon retirement, sheaccomplished her lifelong dream of owning a home back on her beloved island. She later returned toNew Jersey to be close to her children and their growing families. She enjoyed going to the casinos, watching every Mets game, and tending to her plants.
Ramona is predeceased by her daughter, Ann Marie Nieves; and her siblings Iluminada Rodriguez and Carmen Morales.
Ramona leaves behind her loving son, Ralph López and his wife, Sally, of Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey; her son-in- law Raúl Nieves; her grandchildren, Vanessa Nieves, Viviana Nieves, Veronica Nieves, Alejandro López, and Ciara Marie Arena and her husband, Michael Arena; and her great grandchildren, Christian Anthony Neal, Tristin Morrison, Christopher López, Spencer López, and Fiona Arena. She also leaves her siblings; Natalio, Angel, Cruz, Julio, Felix, Hector, and Placida Román.
