Ramona A. Plantz, 92 of Mallard, died Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. Ramona Point, the daughter of William and Bertha (Morrison) Point was born May 25, 1917 in Newell, Iowa. She received her education in Ware, Iowa. On February 7, 1934 Ramona was united in marriage with Richard Plantz in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Pocahontas for ten years before moving to Mallard in 1944, where they farmed during their married lives. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard in 1991, son Ronald and grandsons Dean and Nicholas. Survivors include her children, Gloria (Donnie) Hiscocks of Britt, IA, Danny (Joanne) Plantz of Pocahontas, IA, and Connie Swecker of Tumwater, WA, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, brother George Point of Fort Dodge, IA, and three sisters Leota Schupfer of Kansas City, Missouri, Lois Swearinger of Springdale, Ark, and Florence Stejskal of Grand Meadow, Minnesota. Ramona was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mallard and the Hilltop Methodist Church in Mankato, Minnesota. She was active in the women’s circles of the church. Ramona and Richard enjoyed traveling the United States and several countries abroad, spending much of their retirement winters at the Rio Grande Valley, Alamo, Texas where they enjoyed golfing, playing cards and dancing.
