Ramon “Nick” C’de Baca
Our beloved Nick left this world to be with our Lord on April 28th 2019. With the permission of his parents Nick and Ramona, Nick enlisted in the Navy in 1946, the tail end of WWII at the age of 17. He traveled through the South Pacific where he also boxed welterweight as he served his country.
He received his Master’s degree from New Mexico Highlands University.
He pursued a career in education and served as a teacher, counselor, and administrator before he retired. He married the love of his life in Terry in 1971. He retired from the West Las Vegas Schools in 1982 and finished his career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Pueblo Pintado Boarding School on the Navajo Reservation in 1991. He would spend countless walks through the area of Pueblo Bonita, Chaco Canyon.
During this time, he also served on the Criminal Justice Committee.
Nick loved to paint, read, and spend time outdoors with family and friends hiking, hunting, fishing and collecting fossils.
He was an amateur geologist and looked at the world with curiosity and over.
But, it was his relationships with people that brought him the most happiness.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Terry; sons Ramon and Louis and their sons Jadian and Louis Jr. and honorary son ET2 Bendan Berglund US Navy; Daughters: Theresa and husband Glen DeGhetto and their children, Kenny and wife Julia and their children Melayne and Kalina and daughter Samantha and significant other Fox. Ramona and husband Charles Garcia and their children; Annette and husband Cory; Chad and wife Veronica; Monique and husband Charli Aldaz and their daughter Rose; and Nicole.
Johanna and husband Mike Rivera and daughters Afton and husband Major Pancho Cazares US Army and their daughters Liliana, Rosalia and Emelina; Stephanie and Fallon Crespin.
Nikki Stonestreet and her children, Antonio Cde Baca and daughters Selena and Santana, Duane Stonestreet and his children Eric, Kilynn, and Tyler; Tatyana and Johnny and their children Christian, Izayah, and Julius and Zachary Stonestreet.
All loved and will miss him very much.
He is also survived by Sisters-in-laws Mary and husband Arthur Rowlodge; Helen and Clorinda Quintana, Mela and husband Mel Chavez; Della Lopez, Jean Salas, Lucille Quintana, Marcela and husband Gerald Garcia; Sandra Pacheco and Ramona and husband Steve Lucero, Brother-in-laws Joe and Jimmy Quintana, and numerous nieces and nephews.
