Ramon “Ray” A. Liebhart, 88, of LaSalle, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at the LaSalle Veteran’s Home.
Mr. Liebhart was born on February 25, 1926 in LaSalle to August and Anna (Stuppy) Liebhart. He married Dolores Devecchio on August 25, 1951 in the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle. She passed away on February 27, 1994. He then married Bonnie Gress in 1995. She passed away on February 15, 2007. Ray served in the Navy in the South Pacific during WWII, earning a Purple Heart. Ray retired as a union bricklayer/mason and also served as the B.A. for several years.
He was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle, Catholic War Veteran’s, and lifetime member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 6. He was manager of Hollerich’s and CWV Little League teams for more than 14 years.
He is survived by his three children; Judy (Terry) Pruett of Columbia, MO, Janice (Steve Buss) Liebhart of Madison, WI, and Paul (Heather) Liebhart of Waukegan, IL; five step-children, Kris (Mike) Paul of Oglesby, Don (Linda) Gress of Lebanon, MO, Cliff (Janice) Gress of Peru, Rich (Karen) Gress of Dimmick Twp, and Jack Gress of Peru; six grandchildren, Heather White, Joshua Pruett, James Liebhart, Robert Liebhart, Jared Liebhart, and Brooke Pruett; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Liebhart of LaSalle; three sisters, Gita (Harold) Smith of Peru, Mary Carol Jesiolowski of LaSalle, and Helen Liebhart of LaSalle. He was preceded death by his two wives; one son, Philip Liebhart; five brothers, Claude, August “Bim”, Joseph, Richard, and William Liebhart; two sisters, Katherine and Audrey Liebhart.
