Ralph “Buddy” Hubbard, of Sharpsburg, passed from this life into eternity on February 16th at his home. He was born in Coweta County on August 2, 1929 and was the middle child of three born to the late Buel and Annie Turner Hubbard. Not having a middle name, he came to be known to all as “Buddy”. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Rudine Hubbard. Buddy found true love in his sweetheart, Loret McElwaney. They were married June 14, 1947 and shared almost 73 years together. Buddy’s career choice was as a truck driver; most of that time in the employee of Transus. Buddy and Loret grounded their faith life in Oaklawn Baptist Church. Buddy loved the time he could be at home when not on the road. He was a simple man of simple pleasures and being a born mechanic, he loved to tinker. He took a lot of pride in his home and would spend many happy hours in his pursuit of a flawless landscape. He took seriously his role as a husband, father, brother and friend to many. He knew his strength was in the God who created him and modeled Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Kindness and a willingness to help others was woven into the fabric of his life. In addition to his beloved Loret, he is survived by his sons, Tim and his wife Teresa Hubbard, Steve and his wife Joyce. He was “Pop” to his grandson, Donald Steve Hubbard.
