Ralph Wenger, 87, of Lakeside, Michigan, died Thursday, February 3, 2005, at Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital, University of Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Wenger was born June 12, 1917, in St. Joseph, Michigan to Samuel and Lillie (Mak) Wenger.

On September 27, 1938, he married Evelyn Steltman at St. Joseph’s church rectory in South Bend, Indiana. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Wenger was a pioneer in the field of plastics. He worked in the field for over 67 years. He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers since 1966. He worked for the last 45 years at Plastic Masters, Inc. as the Vice President and General Manager. He was a proud member of St. Agnes Church in Sawyer, Michigan where he served on the financial board for many years. Mr. Wenger enjoyed golfing, and flower gardening. He took great pride in his yard. He loved his family and took great pleasure in spending time with all of them, especially his great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wenger of Lakeside, children, Barbara Friesl of St. Joseph, Michigan; David (Colleen) Wenger of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Terry (Marilynn) Wenger of New Buffalo, Michigan; grandchildren, Colleen, Tony III, and Joe Friesl, Amy Phillips, David Jr, John, Mark, and Heather Wenger; great-grandchildren, Jack, Emily, Drew, A.J. and Nathan Friesl, Eric, Gordon, Abby, and Hannah Wenger, Justin and Kendall Phillips, his sister, Eleanor King of Niles, Michigan, and brothers, Irving (Helen) Wenger of Panama City, Florida and Ken Wenger of Mims, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Johns, brothers, Alvin and Leroy Wenger, and by his son-in-law, Tony Friesl, Jr.
