Ralph Thomas Baughcum, Sr. July 29, 1942 – November 3, 2021 Ralph Thomas Baughcum, Sr., 79, of Newnan, GA passed away November 3, 2021. He was born July 29, 1942 in Union Point, GA to the late William and Nellie Baughcum. Along with his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Oleen Baughcum; children, Ralph Baughcum, Jr., Dixie Gale Baughcum and siblings, Bob Baughcum, Junior Baughcum, and Kathy Clark. He is survived by his children, Norma Shelnutt (David), Matthew Baughcum (Michelle), Melissa Hayes (Brian); a nephew dear to his heart, Joe Baughcum (Jennifer); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Baughcum, Jerry Baughcum; several cousins, nieces and nephews. After serving two terms in the United States Air Force, he worked at the United States Postal Service, Riverdale, GA until his retirement in 1992. He was loved by everyone on his mail route. He was a very “social man,” loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was a die hard GA Bulldawgs fan all of his life. He also enjoyed attending the football games for Mary Persons High School, Forsyth, GA (MP Bulldogs.) He also loved quilting and enjoyed gifting his quilts to family and friends. He was a wonderful, caring and loving husband, father, Paw Paw, PaPa “B” and brother. As a father, he sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed. He was soft and kind when we were crying and hard as steel when we did wrong but we all knew there was always love in daddy’s hands.
