Ralph Shipplett, 83, of Arlington Addition, passed away Saturday September 21, 2013 from an extended illness. He was born June 6, 1930 in Rosemont, WV; son of the late John McKinnley Shipplett and Zelda Elizabeth Brown. Mr Shipplett is survived by his loving wife Ellen Jean Shipplett; son Michael Ray of Roxbough, North Carolina; daughter Rebecca and Ron Hughs, of Jamestown, North Carolina; one sister, Dorothy Krempa of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded indeath by three brothers John McKinnley Shipplett, Jr., William Alfred “Freddy” Shipplett, Gene Loften Shipplett. Ralph was in the army in Kaiserslunton, Germany; where he received the Good Conduct medal. He worked at Merchant Wholesale, Mountain Slate Fabricating and Creasey Company Clarksburg, WV. He loved to go fishing, hunting and gardening; as well as wood crafting. At his request, he will be cremated and buried at the National Cemetery.
