Ralph P. Grivetti,96, of Ladd,died Wednesday October 22,2014 in the Illinois Veteran’s Home at LaSalle.
Mr Grivetti was born in his home in Ladd on June 13,1918 to Anton and Ida(Gualandri)Grivetti. He grew up in Ladd and graduated St. Bede Academy in 1937 and was the oldest living alumni to date. Mr Grivetti married Marion Zerby of Kaneville on June 14,1947 and they made their home in Ladd. He started working at his Uncle Rip’s tavern at the age of 13 and retired from there on June 30,1980. He was co-owner of Rips from 1976 until his retirement. After retirement he and Marion moved to their cabin that Ralph built in the 60’s at Fish-n-Fun in McNabb.
Mr Grivetti is survived by two daughters, Theresa French of Blackduck,MN and Carol(Rick)Szczepaniak of Rockford; one son, Bob(Pam)Grivetti of Peru; seven grandchildren, Kelly(Troy)Gabrelcik,Tony French, Merritt(Brandon)Lenk, all of Minnesota, Kate (Seth)Perry of rural Marseilles, Tracy(Jason)Widergren of Normal, Rachel(Scott)Davis of Yorkville,Matthew Grivetti of Bloomington; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kristoffer and Brayden French, Nolan and Duncan Perry, Caleb Widergren, Molly and Ryan Davis. Three sisters, Loretta Lorenzi and Laura Margherio, both of Ladd and Mary Theresa(Joe)Franco of Kankakee. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion, two sisters, Dorothy Fillipini and Lucille Barsztatis and two brothers, LeRoy and Dick Grivetti, all of Ladd.
