Ralph J. Miserendino, 95, “beloved Uncle Ralph” a lifelong resident of Fair Haven passed away peacefully on February 3, 2015. Ralph was born on August 10, 1919 son of the late Biagio and Calogera MIserendino and graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1937. Ralph entered the U.S Army in 1941 as a private and was assigned to Company A- Ninth Quartermaster Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He attended Officers Training School, was promoted to 2nd Lieut. and served actively until 1946. Ralph then attended the Teachers College of Connecticut in New Britain at what is now Central Connecticut State University. He began his career as a history teacher and later became Chairman of the History Department at Seymour High School where he taught for 35 years. In his leisure time Ralph enjoyed playing golf, chess and was an avid collector of stamps and coins. But above all Ralph appreciated his family and attended to the needs of his siblings especially as they entered their twilight years. Ralph was predeceased by his brothers, Dominic, Anthony, Joseph, William, and Peter and sisters, Mary Grace Schioppo and Carmela Miserendino. He was also predeceased by his nephews Benjamin Miserendino, Blase Miserendino, Dr. Peter J. Schioppo (Mary) and nieces Lillian, Evelyn, Dorothy and Linda. Ralph is survived by his nephews and nieces, Anthony Miserendino (Ann), David Miserendino, Jane Miserendino Dawicki, Eleanor Schioppo Lockery (Eugene) and Dr. Dominic B. Schioppo (Corinne). He is also survived by an additional 3 generations of nieces and nephews.
