Ralph Hille, 89, of Freeport died Wednesday January 10, 2007 at his home. Born June 25, 1917 in Freeport he was the son of William and Mary (Fawver) Hille. On December 13, 1947 he married Norma Scudder in Sterling, IL.

Ralph ran the Austin Delivery Service in the early 40’s and then worked at Fairbanks-Morse Co. for 13 years, he then ran his own Salvage operation called Hille and Son Salvage for many years, he then started his own hobby farm and ran this for over 25 years at the same while running a home improvement business.

Ralph enjoyed raising and riding horses and was an avid Bulls and Bears Fan and in the early 1950’s and 60’s he was a staple at area race tracks with his #38 car. In fact he and his car #38 were recently honored at the Farley Iowa race Track for being an area legend.

Ralph was also an honorably discharged veteran of the Army.

Surviving is his wife, Norma of Freeport, one son, William (Sherri) Hille of Chanhassen, Minn. Four grandchildren, Jenna and Tyler Hille of Chanhassen, Minn., Steven Stile of Iowa and Kathryn Lawson of New York, one special Grandson Robert Knoup of Watertown, WI, One Sister -in – law Idellis Hille of Freeport and special Nephew Roger Hille of South Beloit, IL He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers Alfred, Clarence, Russell, Carl, Raymond and Glenn Hille and one sister Grace Hille.
