Wm. Ralph Garmon, 75, of Ashland, IL died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

He was born October 22, 1935 in Cass County, IL; the son of Wm. Wayne and Mary Catherine Cox Garmon. He married Marilyn J. Pyle on December 15, 1961 in Auburn, IL and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Sherry Miller (husband, Chris C.) of Virginia; an adopted daughter, Kay Lacy of Mt. Sterling; two children from a former marriage, Debra Marie Fitzanko (husband, Dan) and Ralph Patrick Garmon, all of Pekin; four grandchildren, Annette Renee and Cathleen Marie Garmon, both of Ashland and Matthew and Patrick Fitzanko, both of Pekin; four brothers, David Garmon, Ronnie Garmon (wife, Pat), Terry Garmon (wife, Dorothy), all of Pekin and Larry Garmon (wife, Brenda) of Tremont; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel R. Garmon; a brother, Donnie Garmon; and a sister, Wanda K. Young (surviving husband, Henry of Morton).

Mr. Garmon served with the US Army from 1958-1960. He farmed and worked as a truck driver. He served as a police officer from 1968-1970 for the Village of Ashland and later was employed at Mobil Chemical in Jacksonville for 24 ½ years, the last several years as their security guard. He attended the Ashland Church of Christ. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida for several years and visiting country churches.
