Ralph R Fields, 92, died January 11, 2021 at Community Hospital in Toms River. He was born in the Bronx, New York. He lived in Staten Island, Camden, Old Bridge, Spotswood, Brick and then to Toms River.

His mother Annie Hughes Fields was born in England and his father Harry Fields was born in Poland and both predeceased him.

He was predeceased by his first wife Kathryn Fields who died on April 3, 1978. They were married for 26 years and had three children together: Robert Fields of Toms River, NJ, Gary Fields (Amy) of Bethlehem, PA, and Kathryn Grimes of Toms River, NJ, and many grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by his second wife Matilda (Tillie) Fields who died on January 30, 2018. They were married for 35 years. Her first husband Louis Mattia had predeceased her. She had four children by her first husband; Carol Bracht of Matawan, NJ, Joann Mattia of Toms River, NJ, Christine Hynes of Old Bridge, NJ, and Dawn Florczak of Old Bridge, NJ and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He liked to go on deer hunting trips with his brother-in-law and also go camping and fishing with his sons. He also liked to bowl and played in a men’s evening league once a week. He even tried his hand at golfing in an afternoon golf league with his fellow workers from the Army base. He was a high handicapper but did like to walk and pull a golf cart for exercise.

He served in the US Army during the Korean Was and was Honorably discharged from the service in January 1953 as a Radar Repairman and Electrical F. C. Equipment Repairman.

After the war he worked for RCA as an television repairman for a few years and then worked for the government at Fort Dix as a radar equipment repairman with their missile systems.

He then worked the ITT Telephone Company installing electronic phone systems for a few years then went back to the government working at Fort Monmouth making repair books for all the database parts and diagrams for US Army equipment.

After retiring from the government he again did the same work for an outside agency that contracted to make the same repair part books till retiring at age 75.
