Maxwell of Newton and JoAnn (Marc) Wasserman of Pennsylvania; his 4 grandchildren, Angela (and Jim) Langenberg, Chad (and Holly) Wasserman, Jeffrey (and Lariza) Rethmeier and James (and Amy) Rethmeier; 9 great-grandhcildren, Jess and Joe Langenberg, Jordyn and Jake Wasserman, and Leilone, Saghit, Caitlin, Liani, and Tristin Rethmeier; his 2 brothers, Donald (and Joyce) Rethmeier of Laurel, Iowa and Vern Rethmeier of Eldora, Iowa; and 4 sisters, Florence Foster of Corydon, Iowa, Myrtle (and Bob) Foster of Garden Grove, Iowa, Violet Smith of Newton, and Verna Ulrey of Monroe, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen in 2006; his son Ralph Frederick Rethmeier; and 5 brothers, Darrell, Floyd, Glen, Robert, and Morris Rethmeier.

Ralph was a farmer and also did maintenance work for the Johnny and Kaye’s Hiatt House in Des Moines for many years.
