Ralph Eugene Strickhouser of Harney, MD born December 6, 1932, passed peacefully December 23, 2021, at the age of 89 at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter. Ralph lived his whole life in Harney and was well known by everyone. He was a hard worker all his life on his farm and a tractor trailer driver in his younger years. Ralph was a good friend to all, and would always help anyone in need, even it if meant putting his current project on hold. He loved to reminisce about times passed, about his life growing up on the farm, and always had a story to tell. He was one of the few left in Harney that began his life farming with horses, and transitioned to tractors. Ralph was very handy on his farm, if he didn’t have it, he could make it, or design it and have it built. He was always designing something to make the job a little easier. He very much enjoyed giving his granddaughter Zada tractor rides and telling her stories.  Ralph graduated from Taneytown High school in 1953, but he started his school career in the two-room schoolhouse of Harney in 1938.  He was the son of the late Floyd R. Strickhouser and Ethel E. Wantz. He is preceded in death by his son Jeffery L. Strickhouser in 2016. He is survived by his wife Sandy A. Six of 40 years, and daughter Amanda L.  (Forest) Thompson, and 2 granddaughters Zada and Zoe Thompson of Harney. Per Ralph’s wishes, there will not be services held, he wanted to be remembered as he was in life.
